Hello...

I'm new here, so I'm sure this question has already been covered.

We have an 08 Explorer and we want a DVD player installed.

Would like to hear from everyone if they prefer getting a factory Ford DVD player installed, or an aftermarket player?

Are DVD players hard to install yourself?

Just now getting into the research on this and would appreciate any help.

Thanks

PC

I can comment on an '04 . . .should be similar.
Biggest thing is the wiring its probably not there to hook up a stock DVD. You would need the harness from the Radio to the DVD unit, it would come in three pieces, Radio to Kick Panel where it splices to the harness running to the half way up the D-Pillar where it splices to another harness in the roof. . .doable but it would be a lot of work, while an aftermarket would just need power and ground.

Ford does sell (might want to check other sources to save $$) aftermarket DVD player.
Dealer might be able to do a stock on, i'd ask how much to install one and if it integrates with the Factory Radio you have.

There might be some old threads if i remember . . .?
