E Brake Light and Anti-lock rear lights on.. But Why?!

First off, My E-brake isnt hooked up. Well let me clearify, All of the internal hardware is hooked up but the line goin from the emergency brake pedel to the brake drums has been severed since I got it. Now why are My Emergency brake and Anti-lock Rear lights on? I understand that if I were driving around with the E-brake on both of those lights would come on to let me know about it, but to my knowledge I am not. My back brakes aren't hot nor pulling when I let off of the gas or come home. Is there a way the linkage could be pulled out or in a little to make the lights turn off? and where would that be?

Is the brake fluid in the master cylinder low? That light for the E brake is also the warning light for the fluid level.

Same thing happened to mine. It didn't seem to cause any ill effects, but it wouldn't pass inspection. So I removed those bulbs from the dash. Now it passes just fine.

just check your fluid level, and also make sure that your e-brake pedal isn't pushed down just a little bit. Good luck!

No one answered on the RABS light, so I'll ask specifically, why the RABS light would be on? Mine comes on intermitantly, started during the snow last week

The RABS light is on because there is a code stored. It is also possible that the light comes on whenever the Brake system warning light is on (the light the OP is calling the e-brake light)

also check the abs sensor in the rear end, its on the top of the diff and is held down by a bolt, has a wire harness. mine somehow was missing one day and caused both of those lights to come on even though the (P) light should only come on when the fluid is low or the pedal is slightly depressed.

First off thanks for all the feedback! I appreciate it. What if there is too much fluid in it? Would it have the same effect or consequence? I'll take a look at the rear diff tomorrow and see about that. Thanx again

good advice here guys... I was having the same problem after changing the breaks. Turns out I forgot to adjust the parking break!
