E brake on/off constantly

every time i hit the brakes and come to a complete stop(liek when the truck makes that lurch forward and then back) my E brake light comes on and then goes off every time. whats the deal. do i need new brakes?

That used to happen to mine, but now it stays on all the time. My Uncle (a mechanic for FORD) told me there's a wire that ground right below the brake booster that you can disconnect that wilil fix the problem, but I haven't found it yet. Hopefully someone will chime in with a better answer.

Have you checked if your brake fluid is low? I know it will go off if its low.. It could also be a sensor. I'm not sure if the brake light or the ABS light would light up if it detected a fault in the braking system.

my ABS light has been on for months. i just want to pay them to take turn it off. ill check my brake fluid when i get home and see where that leads.
