Do any of you have tail light guards on your 91 - 94 Explorer? If so what brand and how do you like them? I have narrowed my choices down to Grizzly or Genuine Steel. One last question - how do they mount? (one side and then a rubber bumper on other, or both sides mount to body?)

Thanks

I have Smittybilt Inc. rear tail light guards. Mine mounted by screwing two screws on both sides of the tailgate inside, right on the back of the brake light. I love them. They don't get in the way, and I love the way they look. If you need anything else, email me.

I think as long as you're getting a basic brand name, like Smittybuilt, Waag or Manik, you can't go wrong. The only ones I'd say to avoid are the Rhinos. Other than that, they're all about the same price, even compared to carparts.com. If you get these, then you'll have to wash you car by hand all the time from now on. Some of the guards, I think screw into the side of the car as well, but a lot of them don't. I've seen some trucks where after going through a car wash, the spinning scrubbers whipped around the guards and bent them outwards. Just something to think about.

I think I am probably going to go with Genuine Steel tail light guards. I don't use the car washes because it does not get all the mud off :) so it should not be a problem for me. I just want one that is solid, looks good and does it's job.

I've used the Waag's on my 91 and they were great.
