Easiest but cheapest way to add about 3" of lift?

Title says it all. I have a 2wd 1996 ranger, and I am just wondering what is the easiest and cheapest way to add about 3" of lift to fit 31s or possibly 32s.

That's what I was thinking, then I heard about these things like add-a-leaf, and torsion twist, and coil spacers and all this stuff, and didnt know if body lift was the best way to go.

You really can't go more than 2 inches in the front without drop brackets.
