I am ready to trash my '98 xlt OEM radio am/fm/cd/cassette mach premium because of the digital display not working. Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement that fills the opening and takes the existing wire plugins?

How big is the hole? If it's 1 Din then just get a radio you like from Crutchfield and slap it in. If it's Din 1/2 or 2 Din then you'll need a install kit to fill the hole or a fancy unit that takes up the space.

Do a search on ebay there are some jensen ones made for ford, if you don't like that just get whatever double din you want and buy the harness + the metra kit

The radio size is actually called a double din. Any dd size radio will fit into the area. However to finish it off nicely you may want to look into a dash piece by metra part number 95-5600

You said you have the mach premium? Does that have a sub in the back? I don't know that just any aftermarket head unit will work with that.. You'll have to do some more investigating on that one...
