i should have just taken the damn thing off for the winter, but i hit a snow pile and put a small crack and chipped off some of the paint on the airdam. not that bad, but noticeable because the fiberglass itself is white and the airdam is painted back, so it looks like i have a glob of rock salt stuck on it :D

can i fix it myself easily or take it back to the place that sanded, primed, gel coated, and painted it to begin with ?

If you don't feel comfortable repairing it yourself, you can take it to a place that repairs fiberglass boats or automotive equipment. I would recommend boat repair shops since they deal with fiberglass on a daily basis.

At an incredibly inflated price. You can DIY.

Al, you have to realize that not all people are DIY'ers. Some rather pay someone else than attempt a repair.

i am definitely a DIY'er, just never tackled fiberglass before. i've done tons of paintwork, sanding, stuff like that before. this should be fine for me to handle.

Preemptive strike. Obviously, after his previous post, he is a 'DIYer.' No need to restate the obvious. Little things like that send a thread out of control too easily. Let's behave.

As you were, gentlemen.

Fiberglass is very easy to work with. If you sand to much or whatever, mix up some more epoxy lay down some more fiberglass mat and goto work. Gel coat is also pretty easy to work with, the hardest part you'll probably have with that is getting it to match up perfectly. If you goto a place like West Marine or Boat US (though I think they're the same now) they sell Gel coat kits for matching everything up.

yeah, it is a fairly easy fix.
That stuff makes me itch though.
