EEC circuit draws current w/ignition off

..Not2, do you have a 90 Ranger or ???

...The link in post #17 should help and you might have a tank switcher problem where it moves all your fuel to one tank or out the fuel filler hose, if it is stock...

...Btw, do you live near Bridgeport by chance?

Not2 where did you buy the replacement relay? i cant find any. i just pulled my old one out and tapped it with a screwdriver and seems to have unstuck it for now.

re eec/ fuel pump relay

Ybcold : I got my relays at my local FORD dealer in Susanville CA. I suspect you could get them at NAPA etc. My EEC relay unstuck by just barely bumping it. It most likely will stick again.

TBARS: I have a 90 F250 4x4 460ci truck with 145k mi. But the electrical problems are the same. I live near Susanville, about 80 miles north of Reno, Way north of Bridgeport.

I didn't try and start the truck today. I'll post any new conditions or wait three weeks... /Mike

...The relay setup will be the same as the link I posted then and your fuel tank problem, it is common and this link should help..;)

...I am very familiar with Susanville but it's been a while...I was just guessing Bridgeport but it looks like you have a dealer to get parts from....You might also shop our vendors who are usually quite a bit cheaper...They can be found on the bottom of the Forum's page and Rockauto has extra discount's...:biggthump

eec relay

Just a follow up on my truck. It's been about a month now and no problems. The vehicle volt meter is constantly up where it's supposed to be now. No dead battery syndrome. If this changes I'll post it. Somebody stated that the EEC relay operates off the ign switch and this is true. However once the EEC is operated and becomes stuck (operated) even with the switch off, battery flows thru the EEC "make" contacts to the EEC (not the relay) and the fuel pump relay from what I've been able to figure out. Somebody else suggested to change out both relays (EEC & fuel pump) at the same time. I 2nd that opinion. Intermittant problems are the hardest to pinpoint, especially if you have more than one intermittant problem. I would think if your problem is an intermittant one like mine was and your vehicle is old or a lot of miles on it I'd start at any recent wiring mods and then the relays, then alternator etc. Just what I'd do knowing what I know now./Mike
