Effectiveness of Rear Sway bar

I replaced the front and rear swaybar on my ranger, and it made a HUGE difference. Replace both if you can afford it.

With later model Explorers, that's overkill. Ford partly clued in and beefed up the front bar so EE tells you not to bother replacing the front, just the rear. I believe this happened in '98 if I recall.

Hi all:

I agree with celly - no need to replace the front on '98 and newer Sports. 4-doors have a smaller one than Sports, though, so they should upgrade.

I just found out that the OP was referring to me in his post. My Cobra is a '98, not a '97, so I didn't recognize that he was talking about me. Funny. Still, I stand behind my statements made earlier in this thread. Even if it won't win a skidpad contest with my Cobra, it certainly feels more stable. I guess I need to get that panhard bar put on the Cobra. That should firm things up.

To get to my daughter's school, there is a back road that has several severely-negative camber curves on it. I normally just had to plod along with the soccer-moms in their minivans because my Ex felt like it was going to tip over in the turns. On the way to take my daughter to school this morning, I was able to pass them with ease because it felt so much more stable. Yes, the swaybar made that much difference.

Regards,
John.

No need to replace the fronts on any '98 or newer Ex. The sway bars were upgraded on four door models as well.

There is a group buy through another Explorer (derivative) site going on now. I believe they're $159 + shipping (usually $20)...

What site is that??

Okay I am gonna ask this for the last time I promise :)
Some one send me the link for where I can get the end links.

Go to any auto parts store and ask for Moog part #K7275. They are a far superior design to the Ford one and do a good job of quieting down a noisy front end.
