I have a 2001explorer Sport, Recently had to have a used engine put in due to Timing Chain Failure at only 65000 miles.
Now the check engine light is on with a P0401 code (EGR problem). I removed and cleaned the EGR valve and Throttle Body. The engine ran fine until this morning June 21, 2010. Check engine light back on. Now, when I accelerate the tachometer races up and acceleration is slow to zero. Something out of sync??

I don't know on the sports but I know on my V8 it was the DPFE sensor that was causing the p0401.

EGR & Idle Problems

Thanks for the reply!

I hope when I was putting everything back together correctly and didn’t mess up anything Like the TPS or IAC. I did tweak the Throttle adjustment screw but it was fine on Saturday and now when driving the tachometer races and I hardly have any acceleration. Could it be the TPS or IAC?

I have checked vacum lines and bought a new DPFE, Cleaned Throttle Body and EGR valve. Check engine came back on again.

EGR Problem

1:I have been battling an issue with this for a month. Code was reportedly and EGR issue(P0401 code ). I have cleaned the EGR valve,(light came back on)

2:I have replaced the EGR valve and DPFE sensor. (The light came on again).

3: Allvacum lines are intact.

What else could it be? Maybe the EGR Solenoid??

Any other ideas??

The check engine light is still on with a P0401 code (EGR problem).I removed and cleaned the EGR valve and Throttle Body. I replaced the DPFE Sensor and the EGR solenoid and EGR Valve. Still, the CEL is on. Could I get an EGR code for the MAF sensor or an O2 sensor problem??
