EGR Valve, Vacuum Line and Solenoid Sillyness

I have not tested the dpfe, I asked how to do this earlier in the thread. I'll disconnect it later tonight, when I get a chance, and let you know the results.

OK, I just had the plugs pulled from both the dpfe and the egr solanoid, both together and separately (with the vac lines connected) and it ran rough on all occasions.

I did a little wire jiggling while I was at it in case of a loose connection and the car cut out completly. I restarted it and it was fine. In any case there is still vacuum drawing through the egr solanoid to the valve, that is if I have it connected (which I don't, I like my truck to run nice :) ).

I have not looked at the solanoid yet to see if it is jammed open for some reason yet though. Will do that this weekend.

I know I'm not supposed to, but I just unplugged the vac lines from the egr valve to the egr solenoid and plugged it up. It passed it's PA emmisions no problem. Naughty, but effective.

I think I'm having EGR issues myself. after driving for about 30 to 40 minutes on the freeway, the engine will start to bog down the more I open up the accelerator. The more gas I give it, the more it chokes. If I pull over and let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes, it will run fine. Keep in mind I live in Texas and it has been in the triple digits lately. I'm sure the Texas heat has something to do with it. This is a 94 xl and it has been sitting for 5 years. I just got it up and running last week.

Can you adjust the vacuum to the EGR by rotating the knob on the EVR solenoid??? 2001 5.0

The EGR solenoid you got is 100% bad. It should not be open with no power applied. The PCM supplies a ground to the solenoid to open the EGR valve.
