Electrical problem when starting

My x has become difficult to start in the mornings. When I turn the key the engine does not turn over and I get a loud fast clicking noise from around the area of the relay box. If I turn off the key and turn it back on the dash lights are very dim for a few seconds. If I try to start after the dashlights have returned to normal it starts fine. If I don't wait I get the same clicking noise.


Any Ideas?

Hi all,

Any other ideas? The dash lights are the strange part for me. If they came on nice and brite I would say starter or solenoid. But with the dimming it may be the battery, but why do they come back to normal after a few seconds?

When I've seen this kind of thing, it's almost always been bad cables or bad connections. I even "created" this problem on my BII by not tightening the battery cables onto the posts -- dim lights and all. Don't understand why it happens that way, but it does.

I agree that it's either the battery, cables, or connections.
