97 mercury mountaineer
97 mountaineer with JBL premium sound. have been having problems with battery staying chatged overnight...new battery just replaced alternator that was less than 2 yrs old and starter solenoid was unable to find draw took to a shop and they said the draw is from the radio/cd changer/ rear subwoofer amp...didnt know which one...is this possible and if so best way to fix is?... i have a factory stereo out of my 2000 f250 larait will that interchange with the head unit in my mountaineer?...please help

My 03 mustang 6 disc in dash changer interchanged with my 99 mountaineer with the switch of one of the pins in the harness. The harnesses were the same mold, just one of the power wires was in the wrong pin location when i switched it over.

Switching the radio out may fix the problem if it is with the internal amp, but if its the rear sub amp, switching may not fix the problem. I guess you'd have to trial and error.

97 JBL systems are different from the newer systems. It seems very unlikely that your radio or amp would be the problem, but you can unplug them and see if it goes away first.

+1 on this. Unplug one at a time and see when/if problem goes away.
