Hi everyone,
I didn't see a category for just electrical so I figured I would post here. Has anyone tried to set up a "shore power" hookup to there explorer so if you camp at a campground and would like to plug in and charge your vehicle or run some lights or tv etc. you could. I am working on making a roof top tent and getting my explorer set up for outdoor use and was wondering if anyoen has done it before. Thanks for any help and I'll put some pics up of the process on modifying my explorer.

get a high output power inverter and hook it directly to the battery not via cigarette lighter. and use a relay of course...
i have one and run my tv xbox and battery chargers for work and so on and so on and so on...

Teachnically all it would involve would be an extension cord and a couple of electrical boxes. Place the boxes where you want them in the X....and wire them to the cord. Maybe have a cord reel in the back storage compartment.

well I am trying to figure out how I can hard wire a battery charger into my X like an RV has, but I can't seem to find a schematic or wiring diagram to help me out. I am thinking about putting in an extra battery also, so if there are any electrical whizzes out there I could sure use some help!
