electrical question

hey all, i have a question. i have a 92 explorer xlt 4x4 and i was wondering: how many electrical connections are there for the fuel sending unit? as far as i know, there should only be one, correct? it sits along the frame rail behind the tank. i am having trouble with my fuel pump and i see along the frame rail a second connection in front of the tank. as it runs behind the tank and disappears, i cant tell exactly where it goes without dropping the tank. could this be for the rear lights or something else?

The 92 will have seperate connectors for the pump and level sending unit.
