I have 1999 Ranger and this morning I put in four low and now it will not shift back to two high. The lights work on the selector switch, but nothing will move. I have tapped on the motor and again, nothing happened. When I placed it in four low this morning it went right in with no problem. There are lights in the selector so I assume that there is power. I will appreciate and help you might provide. Thanks

Is it in neutral, completely stopped with the brake in when you try to shift it?

I believe that I am answering this correctly. Thanks for the heads up "webmastercharli. I have not had this Ranger long and I find that it is important to do things correctly. You advice solved my problem.

LOLOL!! In my rough guesstimation based on these boards, the basics (stopped, in neutral, foot on the brakes) solves about one in 20 shifting problems here. :)

Keep it simple. Always start with the basics! :)
