Electronic shift switch for 4 wheel drive.

I am needing to know how to test and replace the electronic shift switch on the four wheel drive. Currently, absolutely nothing happens when you push the switch to engage the 4-wheel drive. I have never dealt with the electronic switch system before.

Do you hear anything when you push the 4x4 button? You should hear some relays clicking in the shift controller.

grch, not sure about the testing of the switch, but to replace is simple, it is easy to pop the holder out of the dash, disconnect the harness, and then another pop out, it is only held in by plastic tabs. Kinda of like leggos. If you need one and have trouble finding one, I still have the electric switch assy from when I pulled it out of my '92. I now have a manuel transfer case.
I only used a small flat tip screwdriver as a pry to remove it.
