Is this for your Explorer? If so, you have a gear driven speedo sensor and it can be easily changed to a different tooth gear for about $15.

I don't think is gear driven ? are they....Is controlled by elctric pulses isn't????

96 xlt......

And if it is gear driven, where is the gear located ?

How do I replace that?

Where do I buy it?

What I want to do is just place a new set of tires in my 96 EXP V8 allwd........
Most probably 31x10.5x15 and I haven't done so because I know the speedometer reading is going to change and I don't think these are gear driven , Im really not sure "I DON'T KNOW"... (How did you correct yours)????

Thanx.....

Yup. It's gear driven to an extent. The VSS is in your transfer case. The only wires going to it. Stock, I think is a white year. And you'll need something right around a 17t green gear. You may want to search around this site before you go buy one though. Ford has them in stock (all the ones I've been to) and they're about $12-$16.

To replace it, all you do is remove the one bolt holding the sensor in, then remove the snap ring holding the gear to the sensor. Swap gears, and reinstall. You're done. 5 minute job. :D

Thanx for the info!!!!!!!!!!!

Which gear did you use when you had your 31 bfg, if you used one?

Does anybody know how to calibrate it? or if there is a calculator to do so? :us:
