Hi Everyone,
My explorer has been having a rear gate rattle since i bought it. I talked to a mechanic and he said I don't have to worry about it and a lot of things have to be taken apart to find out what it is. I did a little research and saw that there is a TSB #17680 for similar problems for 05 explorers. Is there an easy fix for this? It is kind of embarrassing when you have a date!!

maybe the wiper assembly is loose in there. You can take off the door trim and see if you can tighten the screws. Try to shake the gate as you open it and see if you have clunking. Maybe you can make a project out of that with your date :)

Can you move the whole gate while its closed or is it something inside of it?
If you grab it while its closed and can move it a little bit you have to replace the plastic pieces on the striker bolts.
Easy fix, they sell them at auto zone in the HELP! section.

Thanks for the response. Is there directions to open the rear door trim? I think it is something inside it. The glass window is tight and the door is tight.

might be a loose screw. to take it off just inspect around the lock and look for screw to undo. it should be simple, just don't force anything to much.
