Hey everyone just wondering about which one is good, which brand is good, where do i even look for them at? And wondering if you guys have had good luck with them. I live up on a big hill here in ohio and with a field behind the house and the wind chill gets the best of the vehicles trying to warm up. So i just wanted to try and get some heat a little bit quicker this winter. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Matt

go to a junk yard and try to find one. I don`t know if they make aftermarket ones? The dealer would be a good place to go too.

If that doesn`t help you, you can get magnetic oil heaters that attatch to your oil pan. pretty much the same thing

You can get one at just about any parts store. Do not go to the dealer they will charge 600 bucks to intall one. Do it yourself if you can. It really doesn't do much for your engine to warm up any quicker. Mainly they are used to keep fluids from thickening in extreme cold, and help for an easier start.

I would get an inline version..easier to install and replace if it goes bad. Radiant versions for lower hose as well as circulating pump style for heater hose...

i just read something on the heep board about this. Guys where saying the block will not make the heater work faster, its just to keep the fluids warm enough to start in extreme cold. One that pump coolant will make it warmer. I've also used the magnetic kind which worked, they also have a dipstick heater too. check amazon they now seem to have several types which might work very well. . .?

The block heater is just to ease the starts when it's really cold...like here a couple days ago when it hit -46*C...thats -51*F. Apparently it was the coldest place in North America or something... LAME.

Anyway, a block heater will help start when it's cold. Any auto parts store will have one, not a hard install on your own if you're a backyard mechanic at all.

An inline heater will help with the quicker warm up. You can get them with an element and no pump or with a pump to move more coolant.

Those little 110 in car heaters reallly help to take the edge off in the morning as well... not for starting but just keep the interior warm...

^ Ha ha, I see I'm not the only one who survived that deep freeze.

yea i was around for that too. took 2 of my doorhandles from me.

I am going to try a poultry lamp with a 75 watt bulb below the oil pan. My explorer is not lift. I will give report back later.
