Engine cranks/turns over but won't start

Cam sensor is on driver side, so that would make sense why there is spark. That cam shaft is spinning when cranking.

Shucker1 this motor is weird. The driver side chain is up front, that spins a jack shaft the length of the engine, then turns a chain on the passenger side rear of the engine.

I understand that.

I've also read on this forum of many instances of valves being bent from bad timing chain tensioners.

True, obviously if valves were bent the compression would be all messed up.

I thought OP was asking about the cams moving during disassembly. Sorry for the confusion

NP Dude!

Got an idea?

We would love to hear it.

Shucker1 if the cam is not turning on the passenger side, the engine or the trans need to come out to work on those chains and guides. No way around it.

These valves are non-interference.
The SOHC 4.0 is absolutely an interference engine. Those compression numbers seem weak.

Recheck the cam again. If it’s not moving, there’s no point in trying things further. It’s time for a new motor, or at least yanking the current one out.

Pull both valve covers and turn engine over to see what is moving and what isn’t?
Not sure which side the oil fill is on but maybe you could look through the oil fill/PVC valve holes to see the cams without removing valve covers?

massacre no need to pull the valve covers, you can see thru the oil fill spout on the passenger side to see if the cam is spinning. On the driver side you can remove the cam sensor and see the cam spinning.

We know there is spark, so the driver side cam is spinning. Really not sure why we are trying to fix this? If the passenger side cam is not spinning, the engine needs to be pulled

Is 4.0L SOHC V6 an Non-Interference Engine?

One other thought if the chain failed.
drain the oil, see if you get chunks of metal and plastic in your drain pan.

I never said anything about being able to change the chain with the engine in place...

I'll just watch from here.

If it is sparking the crank sensor is good. Spray carb cleaner in throttle body while cranking. See if it will run for a second or 2. if you have auto parts store close by, they usually rent fuel pressure gauge. did you check to see if the fuel pressure inertia switch has tripped?

How many miles on engine? .
Carb cleaner will not start a car, it will cut a car off....Use starter fluid, comes in a spray can like carb cleaner does
