engine failsafe mode after removing ABS Fuse

So, this is my first post, though I have frequented this forum for years. I have an 05 explorer 6 cylinder and lately my abs light has been going off and causing grinder pads in my drivers side front wheel. I changed the pads and removed the ABS fuse under the hood. But now I get the infamous Engine Failsafe Mode. All other pads are good. And I'm wondering if there is a way to replace the ABS fuse and not have the sensor make me brake in that wheel. I am strapped for cash due to the "season" and I can't afford the new sensor right now, but I desperately need my truck to start running properly right now. Anyone know of a quick solution, or can direct me to a thread where this has been discussed before?

the 04 and 05 models are so dependent on the ABS module to be active otherwise it will go into limp mode. Have you tried going into a parts store and have them scan your ABS system, it might simply be a wheel speed sensor issue. Some scanner can't read ABS codes so look for a store that has that capability.

Yah. I was almost 100% sure it was the wheel sensor. I just wanted to know if I could maybe disconnect that sensor and replace the fuse and the Limp Mode would go away. Or would the disconnected sensor cause it to stay in limp mode.

you need to return the fuse back to enable the ABS and not go into limp mode, however since your sensor is bad it will activate the ABS often.. pick your poison...

So I put the fuse back in and I disconnected the Drivers side front sensor. So far I haven't had it hit engine failsafe mode and it seems I have a temporary fix until I can get a new sensor. Though ever since I took out the fuse the dash is now telling me to service the engine.
