I'm posting this to the general 2014 Explorer forums as I'm sure it'll get more visibility and the issue is likely the same as the standard 2014 Explorer.

I purchased a Kat's Engine Heater Cartridge, and can't for the life of me figure out where it goes. I've never installed any sort of engine block heater, and am having an incredibly hard time finding answers online...despite everything implying they are foolproof to install. I've found videos for other fords online, but they again look like they are incredible simply to install.

According to the product page, it says it'll fit my 2014 PIU, and states: "Easiest Mounting Location- Right Front~Element Facing Position NA"

Looking at Kat's site, there is a guide for each possible car. They also state that it's the "Right Front" location, with a diagram.

Because my dyslexic self has problems with this sort of map/orientation, I took a picture under the hood and squared off the area this image indicates to look at for finding the location:

I've been unable to find it from the top, so I put the car on ramps and crawled under. Nowhere does it seem to have a spot for the heater cartridge. Here are some various pictures, I know they may not be the best, but I just don't have a clue where it could be...any help would be appreciated. I can take better pictures of any locations should I need to; as I took most assuming someone would point out an area and ask me to move stuff out of the way or get closer at specific locations.

So far the best or closest things that even seem to resemble what I'm looking for are as follows...

This is on the under side, following the diagram, would be Right Center or Right Rear. But it is facing down, doesn't seem to actually "go in" anywhere useful, and to seal the deal, doesn't fit.

This spot looks like the most likely candidate near the read next to the oil filter, but it's on the Right Rear and obstructed by this metal brace. I don't want to start dealing with it unless I know this is the right spot, and I'm not confident it is, as it doesn't match the diagram.

Anyways, please, anyone help. I'm suspecting I might need to contact a local Ford dealer or maybe Kat's; but I'd like to avoid it if I could.

Thanks in advance for anyone that takes a look at this!

I don’t know if this older thread will help, but look at I think it’s Post #31 within the thread:

and this large one has a lot of discussion:

Have you checked to see if you already have a block heater. According to posts I have read, Explorers in your state should have had them installed at the factory.

The first link I hadn't seen before, but Post #31 looks like what I'd found in the service manual. That'd be for a Freeze Plug style block heater, like this one.

I had seen the second link, but assumed it was for a Freeze Plug. I read through it all, and sadly that's all the talk is about.

Thanks, I'd come across that one too; but I couldn't for the life of me find anything that even looked like it'd be it. I also have the original purchase order amazingly, and I'd assume they'd note it on there, right? Or not necessarily? I saw your post saying your's doesn't list it, but I also looked at the same area as your's and found nothing obvious to me.
