I am in need of replacing my engine mounts, one side is completely shot. I’m surprised to see that there is almost no info on here about the procedure. I’ve found instructions that are much better than in the Haynes manual but I still am trying to figure out the best places to jack the engine up to remove the mounts. I know it doesn’t need to be jacked up really per say but more just to take the weight off the mounts. If any of you have any suggestions. I’m looking for a good spot to lift the right side and left side and then also the transmission. If I’m going to change one then I’m going to do all 3. Thanks for your help.

I have always used a transmission jack under the transmission pan. Use a piece of 1" thick plywood that is a little larger than the pan to spread out the weight. It will lift the engine enough to change out the mounts. Once you get the engine mounts replaced, remove the bolts for the trans mount and jack it back up to change that.

I don’t have a transmission jack is the problem and it’s not really in the budget right now. I was going to use a regular jack or a bottle jack with a couple blocks of wood. You have done the mounts on a 3rd gen? Do I need to end up dropping the front differential down to get access to the bottom bolt of the drivers side mount?

I have never done a 3rd gen, but I have done a few dozen other vehicles and it was always the same way. A regular jack and a few blocks of wood should work in a pinch. I don't have the specifics for your vehicle.
