Okay here's what I've got going on. A 2002 Explorer, with 150K + miles, with the dreaded 4.0h-no. Last summer I had the timing chain replaced and shortly there after the harmonic balancer replaced. I remember distinctly the sound the engine was making when we rolled it into the mechanic to have the timing chain fixed. Lately I've been noticing a similar sound coming from under the hood. Sounds kind of like a rattling sound ... I've listened in different areas with the engine running such as the pulleys and around the A/C compressor. It appears to be coming from the side of the engine closest to the firewall... I dont want to speculate yet but is it possible it is the timing chain again? I am pretty sure it's not the exact same noise as before. My quesion is, are there ANY OTHER problems that would make this kind (or similar) noise.
