Could it just be the iac valve? or is there something major it could be?

Welcome to the forum! Was he at a stand still when he took his foot off the gas and it would stall or was it while he was driving? If he was stopped and it did it then it could be the IAC. Just take the valve out and give it a cleaning and see if it helps. If it continues then just go grab another one. Are there any codes being thrown?

Thanks man i appreciate the help...and it was while he was driving and i wish i could know if a code was thrown but the check engine light has been on for awhile because of a sensor..

what do you mean by the vehicle throwing a Code??? and how do you check that???

I understand some part store over there in the states will read codes for free (and then tell you you need to buy this expensive part from them).
Get the codes read then post them here before buying any un-need parts, ie a code for o2 sensor rich out of range doesn't necessarily mean the o2 sensor needs replacing it has other causes.

So post you codes and the guys on here will help with their experience.

But looking at the problem you have i would also check with a meter the voltage on the battery with the engine off and then check the output of the alternator with the engine running. Also check the earth straps around the engine and from battery to frame.

Ps hondas might be good but you can't go wheelin in one or fit a sofa in the boot!!!! LOL

haha thats true janolsson but thanks for the help..ill tell my friend what i have learned and hopefully that will help to fix the problem

Just another thought
If you put a meter on the alternator check on DC but also check for AC current. Reason i say this is the rectifier could have blown and the car won't like AC current.
