Hello everyone I am new to the forum and got my ST only about 6 months ago. I started getting a rattle about 2 months ago. It sounds like metal hitting on metal and coincides with the rpms except in park or at a stop. It seems to be coming from under where the driver sits. It will not happen when parked even when revving the engine. It happens at all speeds except very slow. Seems to get worse when going uphill or with a substantial load. Only has 67k miles on the engine and the only work I have done is replace a torn cv boot when I first got it. Any help what so ever would be awesome. Thanks guys.

hello marine :salute:

honestly sounds like the cv axel is completely shot.

Try to brake torque the engine a bit in drive while your sitting still and see if it comes back. I have a loose baffle in the muffler that drives me nuts at times.. open the back window is it louder? Try to duplicate the conditions that your driving bring the engine up to the rpm range your experianceing it at..

ok update

Just changed the oil and could they put the oil filter in a worse place. So as I expected no metal or plastic shavings in the oil so I really doubt any kind of timing chain problem. However, I was under the truck and realized when grabbing the drive shaft and attempting to rotate it there was some movement in there and a slightly familiar rattle coming from the transfer case. Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be happening?!?!
