Hi everyone,
I have an Explorer 1998 with the SOHC engine in it and the engine seems toasted: low vacuum at approx 12-14"Hg at idle, needle drop to 0 under throttle rapid accel and reached about 20" Hg on decel.
Compression ranges from 105-110 up to 120 PSI. Just redid the 00M12 gasket thing without any improvement on the vacuum value. Replaced the spark plugs and wires by OEM stuff, no changes. Fuel filter replaced last fall. Air filter replaced last sumer, checked Ok.
And to complete the picture, at coasting speed of 35-40 mph, there is a jerking motion on the whole drivetrain.
My question is:
Can I swap a late model V6 SOHC in my 1998 Explorer, let say a 2004-2005 one, without too much assles for connectors or other design changes from exhaust or accessories?
Thanks,
