Engine Revs for a second at a stop sign

At first I thought it was just a fan kicking on, but then I noticed my engine was reving just for a sec and the truck was trying to move forward slightly. I have a 93 Explorer 2D. Am I having tranny problems or belt problems? Just curious.
BTW- Best board for Explorer Info BAR NONE!

Are you pushing the gas and it's reving, or is it reving by itself?

What's the outside temp like?

Possibly an IAC problem. My manual trans 89 Ranger used to do this sometimes. It is possible that the IAC (idle air control) is sticking. They appear to go bad on Explorers quite often.

You can try cleaning the inside passages to see if that will help your problem.

On the question about the Gas pedal: It is doing this on it's own. But it sounds like a fan is kicking on. The reason I had said it was the engine reving, is because the engine would want to lurch forward if my foot was not on the brake.

Check your temp guage. Is the engine running hot? It will increase idle speed it it thinks it's overheating.

it might be doing that if your electrical load is high also.
mine was doing that when i pressed the power window switch!!

I had a 92 that did that

The battery clamp cracked and made an intermitant connection. This spike reset the computer so it thought you were just starting the engine. It caused the IAC to open wide and the rpm would go up to almost 2K. It is a very creapy feeling feeling the vehicle lurch forward. So it could be a problem in the electrical distribution.
