Engine skips

Hello. When driving on the highway,at least 50 mph,my engine skips quit often. It happens when engine is running below 2000 rpms. It doesnt matter if u r going on the flat or climbing a hill. Above 2000 rpm it doesnt happen. Any ideas? Thx.

How many miles? Have you swapped the spark plugs out yet?

It has 72,000 miles and I put in new plugs about 8,000 miles ago. I have never put new plug wires.
