Hi folks. I've been chasing some engine noise. Posted before and got good responses. I've been unable to get into it till hopefully this weekend. My wife describes the sound like it sounds like a Model T!?! Taps at idle, model t sound under acceleration. Has intermittent miss. Also noted codes 345 and 349. I need my electronic ear to listen to engine noise..I the hear all the common noises.
Blame 30 years of loud engines and music. Anyhow, anyone ever hear this description before....blew me away....

V6, 8? Mileage?

Loss of power? White smoke in the exhaust? Water in the oil? (looks like pancake syrup and kinda smelly)

Yeah - can't really help until we know if it's a V8 or a V6 - they are very different engines. And current mileage is very helpful also.
The more info you provide the clearer the picture. Until you post that info any answer is a shot in the dark.

If it’s a 4.0 liter V6, common sources of noise are the multiple timing chains, and in my case my harmonic balancer pulley began disintegrating and rattling. By the way I completely understand about the 30 years of loud engines and loud music.

Good morning. Forgot to put in the specs....it has 94k and is 4.6 V-8. I'm going to troubleshoot the p0349 and Po345 later the AM and hopefully address the intermittent miss....any advice s appreciated. My post from a few days ago gives much more detail

I was a Tech for 30+ and never heard the description that " it sounds like a Model T." It is a 4.6. very odd. Before I went for the mounts, the engine was silent. After reading these posts, it actually could be an exhaust manifold since once for a few when raising the engine the manifolds did contact the firewall....
