Engine squeak/squeal

Any ideas on this?? I have started getting a squeal from the front of the engine. I took off the belt and it is still happening and sounds to be coming from the harmonic balancer or crankshaft. I can't tell if the sound changes drastically with the increase of RPMs but it does sound like it increases. It is hard to tell because it is not a constant squeal but one that seems to alternate slightly.
