98 explorer
Hello all, new member here. I have a 98 explorer with timing chain failure. So I have been using your wonderful forum to answer questions I have had and the easiest way to do things on the explorer. Well here is my question the motor that was in my truck has a sticker on the valve cover 8G 962 AA. I bought a used motor with low miles and got it home only to find out it is a little different. It is a 9G 962 AA. The upper intake, fuel rail, fuel lines, and some of the wiring is different. Can I just transplant this stuff from my old motor? Thanks in advance!

if its not the same year of motor that is in your truck, yes, i would swap all your sensors, wire harness, and intake. you may also have to swap your fuel rails as well (99 and up had a returnless fuel system, 98 and down had a return system). also, look at the drivers side valve cover on your new motor. if it has the PCV valve in it, you will also want to change that. im just saying this because you didnt post what year of motor you are putting in thats all.

Sorry, the motor I am putting in is out of a 98. But like you said it had a completely different wiring harness and fuel rail and injectors. The manufacture dates on both of the motors are really close. My original is 8/4/98 and the replacement is 8/18/98. But they are soo different! I have swapped all the wiring, fuel rail, injectors, and some sensors. I will look at the valve cover to see if that has to be swapped too. Thanks for the reply.

Hello again, I have the new motor in and running. Thanks for the advice... I need to purchase a full exhaust system for it. The old one was just rotten and had the cats removed before I got it. So does anyone know where I can source a complete exhaust for it?
thanks!

if you need cats, you might have to go aftermarket. otherwise you can get one made at a shop, or rock auto has one. not sure what shipping would be however

edit. is it a 2 door or 4 door? if you have a 2 door, you will have to get one made at a shop
