has anyone sawped out a 2.3l for a 4.0l motor in their ranger? i have an 89 ranger with a 2.3l that i want to swap out for a 4.0. will the wiring harness match up with the plugs on the driver side firewall and will the transmition cross meber work or need to be moved?

I don't know all that will be involved in the swap. One thing I do know is that the 2.3 and 4.0 have different bellhousing bolt patterns. This means, depending on whether your current transmission has a removable bellhousing or not, could mean you'll need a transmission to go with it. This might not necessarily be a bad thing if you have an A4LD automatic, as the 4.0 L A4LD's were built stronger than the other A4LD's.
