Do not go that old! I repeat do not go that old! you will have to replace a lot of the sensors the crank gears, fuel rail, injectors, trigger wheel, different motor mounts, Also the explorer uses the aluminum PI heads, the older Vic will not. The Explorer 4.6 is also an aluminium block, where as the one in the Vic I believe in cast iron. You will have to tear both engines apart and swap parts back and forth. The easier thing to do would be to swap in another used explorer 4.6. Much less time consuming and exceedingly less frustrating!
