Hey All,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have 2004 V6 4.0 L
When the explorer is at idle, there is a slight vibration thru the vehicle. The engine all the way to the tail pipe is vibrating. The vibrations get worse when the compressor is running...(a/c or defroster). i don't know if it is a rough idle because the engine does sound smooth and there is no fluctuation on the tach.
I did change the plugs but not the plug wires, I changed the fuel filter, had the injectors cleaned, cleaned the MAF and the throttle body and changed the air filter. i have not done anything to egr valve, and I dont think this year explorer has an IAC. I also put in STP gas treatment and injector cleaner. Nothing so far seems to work. Am I dealing with a vacume leak or maybe a broken motor mount? I would really appreciate some input and opinions.
Thanks in advance

It could be a couple of things. I had the same and tok it to the shop, all they did was reprogram the computer and it solved the problem. I would suggest changing the wires though anytime you change the plugs and try to use the same brand wire as the plugs.

I'm getting the same thing with mine... if/when you figure it out let me know.

mine was doing same thing as well as having serious throttle lag. dealer flashed computer and made it worse. Dealer replace throttlebody and problem has went away.

My 4.6l v8 explorer is doing the same thing. I changed the plugs and coil on plugs and its still there. If you figure this out please post up, im tired of spending money on things that arent solving the issue.

Same on my '03 XLT V6...it's not worrysome or damaging..just slightly annoying, but if you come up with an answer let us know. Oh and my tach doesn't change either, runs smooth just vibrates the body somehow

I guess just a preference and an opinion, but I just think when a manufacturer makes a product, they make it to work best when it is paired with its same brand counterpart? It may just be me, but I think most people try and do the same.

maybe I am confused was that direction to the thread pointed to my suggestion that you should keep the same brand plugs as wires?

well, I used the autolite platinum plugs, and used autolites professional series wires, not necessarily the best by far, but good enough for me.

If the engine runs smooth but can feel vibration, it can also be engine support or transmission support.

i have an 05 XLT 4.0L and this car idles like junk, i dont know if its a blow motor mount, or a bad EGR, but the car has 17K miles, and gets a fuel injecton cleaner every oil change, and runs only sunoco 87 octaine.

my only idea is that it is the 10% Ethanol that they are putting in with the gas now-adays
