Guys/Gals…. this is kind of hard to explain but I’m going to give it a go: I’ve notice that when I’m driving that when I let off the gas my engine sounds like it is still “revving up” or running rich, however the rpm are at a normal 1000 level. As am sure you can imagine this creates some engine nose or vibration when letting off the accelerator. Now my question to you guys/gals is this; are these engine noses that I’m hearing a common with 2004 AWD Explorer if not do you have any suggestions on what it may be? Any info would be much appreciated!!

Thanks Nate

A guess would be that the electric motor which drives the throttle body ("drive-by-wire") is for some reason slow to allow the throttle plate to close when the gas pedal calls for it.

Possibly binding in the plate itself; those here more knowledgeable than I may explain further, as to whether the motor is driven in both directions, or whether the throttle possibly is closed by spring pressure which works against the motor torque. imp
