I need help. I have battery power but the starter is clicking...sounding as if it is trying to start but cannot turn the engine? Can startes seiz or just stop like that. I have noticed in the past few days the engine has had a harder and harder time turning over. Is it the starter?

I had something simalar to your problem it was just my battery, it was old. How old is your battery, you might also want to check you solenoid.
Try charging you battery up.

i charged the battery and it is fine. I listened to the starter and it is clicking but nothing happens.

1st thing I would do is check the battery cable terminals to make sure they are making good contact. Then make sure the cables aren't corroded.

Is the starter clicking or the starter solenoid located next to the battery? It is indeed common to have wire problems as well as the starter getting worn out. The wires may look ok on the outside, but inside they may be corroded enough to prevent full power from the battery from reaching the starter. When my starter was nearing its end only the solenoid near the battery would click. I would tapped the side of the starter a few times and it would fire right up. So if tapping your starter gets it going you're going to eventually need a new starter.

Yep, i just went through this yesterday. All it would do was click when i tried to start it, so i got underneath with a hammer, pressed the command start, and as soon as i heard the click, lightly tapped the starter with a hammer and she fired up. But before it wouldn't start completely, i too noticed that it was getting harder and harder to start. Solved the problem by throwing a brand new hitachi starter in there. It was expensive but it came with a 5 year warranty, so that took care of my starter issues for quite some time. And it only took me about 30 minutes to do the job which includes the time it took to clean up.
