...get the battery tested...i would also think about replacing both battery cables...;)

...also, you might check the starter relay on your fender...;)

I tried jumping the two points with a screwdriver....nothing

is that the one you just bought?

Yeah lol i'm thinking it is the battery cause he said he grabbed one from his work, my guess is he grabbed the wrong one.

Neutral safety switch maybe? Happens to me all the time. Is it an auto? If yes, try moving the shifter to R and then back to Park and try again. Or try starting in N.

Just tried that, nothing, bought a new battery, nope. Cables look fine so i'm not worried about those.

I had the same problem as you and i took it to a mechanic and they replaced the crank sensor and now its starting fine so you might want to look at that.

Switched the start solenoids on the 2 xplorers and it didnt work so i'm goin for the starter next, friends that are in automotive classes are saying thats my best bet so i'm goin for that.

The engine might not start with a bad crank position sensor but it would still turn over.

what is the battery voltage when you try to start it?? if it's the same then check the starter solenoid on the starter (as Burns said).

Well my dad said try jumping the new battery, i don't understand why but i did and it started right up and hasnt had a problem all day.

I'll bet on the battery cables. They can look fine but be internally corroded. Common problem on Gen 1's with symptoms like yours. You need to measure the resistance of the battery cables with an ohm-meter. If it's more than a couple of ohms, they need to be replaced. Been there..done that...

Well it still started fine all day today so i'm not to worried about it now, just gotta get the dang maf cleaned on the 94 but don't have those little bit things i need.

I too put my money on the battery cables, or at least the positive cable. My 93 acted the exact same way.

My dad tried it and said because the other one was so close to the maf he couldnt get it.
