I just came home from a road trip. It was about 700mi each way and about 350mi into it I noticed heavy brake dust on my passenger front wheel. The rest of the wheels looked good. There was no pulling that would indicate a stuck caliper. It did not pull while driving nor did it pull while braking. Other than the brake dust, it handled like normal. I changed the brake pads a year ago without a problem. I did have both front brake lines replaced a couple of months ago since the old ones were about to burst. Any suggestions?

Here is the front driver side at the same mileage. This looks normal to me.

pull it apat and recheck everything.
i'd re check the guide pins or replace them. Also double check they went in correctly as they are different. I found if inserted in wrong one was lose and the other tight, once corrected they both felt the same 'tightness' .
Also while you have it apart double check the caliper. It sounds like a pad is dragging.

I'm gonna pop the wheel off, just haven't had the time. If a pad was dragging would it not pull to that side?

when my heep did this no. The pins where wore out and it just wouldn't fully release the pad. It was like it was constantly wiping the rotor. Only way i found it was the one pad was like 10% while the others where 50% . . .

Hmm, interesting.

Denny: Not only very interesting, but also very "typical". I would guess your caliper IS sticking and you're wearing that set of pads quite badly right now.

Well, looking at part prices, Looks like replacing it is not to pricey. I might go ahead and replace both.

always do in pairs, . . .
You might just be able to put new pads on and while your at it id replace the pins(bolt)/guides. You also should get Some new shims (sometimes they come with the pads or you can them seperatly)
Oddly it looks like its missing on the bottom Driver side, they are those Silver looking things, that sit between the pad and bracket, has a 'U' shape to it. Or it could be the lighting. . .
Since they are fronts they should come off easy and if that rotor isn't to badly worn, you can have it 'turned', still looks thick, but double check the min. thickness, spec.

Shims? That could be a problem.

They could also be called 'Rattle Clips' there are two of them for each caliper and are different for the top and bottom.
