2014 Explorer Utility.
Good afternoon, first time posting.
2014 Utility 3.7
Unfortunately I live in the salt belt and it took a tool on the exhaust. I am wondering if there is a more cost effective option for the rear section of the exhaust. Purchased the front flex pipe section new from Ford. But was wondering if the rear section crossed on the civilian models.
Thank you

Nope. The FPIU exhaust is one piece from the flex pipe back, and is unique to the FPIU.
I had a problem with the hangers rusting off the pipes. While I can't speak to the current situation, I waited awhile for the next exhaust to come in at the dealer. At one point, the system was on a national back order. We wound up replacing the flex pipe and the front to back system. And, it's costly.
Perhaps a local shop can compile a system for ya? (I wanted factory- now to get rid of the turn down tips....)

The aftermarket dual exhausts for the sport will work, but the resonator on the PIU is longer, so you will have a gap that needs to be filled with 2 short extension pipes.

Install process is same as for Sport - cut off old exhaust in front of resonator, install sport aftermarket dual exhaust, obtain 2 1/4" extension pipe in correct length to connect the system.

This isn't likely to be any cheaper, but you should be able to get aftermarket exhaust easier/faster than factory.
