Sup Guys... one of my Co-Workers has his muffler removed and just has a straight pipe running from his cat.. it sounds soo sweet, but im sure some kinda laws are being broken.. come on.. this is California, emissions control freak town!! well, he has totally motivated me to upgrade my exhaust, but legally... this post is mainly for all you guys out there with DynoMax Cat-Back exhaust kits... if you have another company's its cool if you respond too.. i REALLY want to get the DynoMax UltraFlo. I dont want to go with the Super Turbo cause i think that S-Curve wont help when i comes to power... and the UltraFlo is stainless steel. one reason Borla has been so popular..
does anyone out there have this system???

if so, how do you like it.

does anyone know how much this system runs for???

How are the performance gains??? Am i just wastin my hard-earned $$$?

Everyone wants their 6 cylinder to sound like a V-8. mine already does... cause im drivin the 5.0L.. but now i want mine to sound like a friggin monster tractor!!! hook me up with some info guys!! THANKS!

Hey HuiDaddy-I'm running the Ultra-flo SS straight through muffler. I only bought the muffler along with a Supercoverter. I had a exhaust shop hang the muffler and move the cat backwards to try and get it away from my RA bushings on the passenger side. They ran 2.25 inch pipes. There isn't enough I can say about the Ulra-flo. It did run me a little more than standard low restriction muffler, but its well worth the money. I paid about $90 for the muffler and had the converter and muffler and custom piping installed for $110. It has a nice low mellow tone which sounds even nicer with the addition of the Borla headers I recently installed (an all day affair with no power tools). You'll be happy with it. I'm sure of it. Try calling Jegs or Summit Racing. http://www.jegs.com Dead Link Removed Hope this helps.

I just put a Borla cat-back on my 94. It was easy to install and sounds great. As for performance, The acceleration feels smoother and a little more powerful. Maybe 5-10 hp. If you have a 95 or newer explorer check out http://www.fordracing.com they have Borla cat-backs for $145.OO. Thats the best price your going to find. Since mine truck is a 94 I went to carparts.com and used the 33% off coupon. It ended up costing 259.OO with shipping. But it took 3 weeks for delivery.

exhaust

HuiDaddy, I think I have what you want!! It's a Borla Exhaust (cat-back). It is still brand new in the box. E-mail me if you are interested. P.S. it is for a 5.0

heyo,
umm, huidaddy, i've got a 5.0 EB w/ dual straight pipes. we y-piped it after the converters and ran dual exits on each side and retained the stock cats.....it's is SOO loud. i have the loudest explorer in the world right now is what i claim. i definitely have the loudest street vehicle up here in southern WV. mustangs and camaro's up at the strip drive by each other and rev the engine, well i follow closely and hit mine....they freak!! lol....it's waaay 2 loud for me (plus i had 2 have a friend who's dad owns an inspection shop 2 slap a sticker on there for me...lol) so i think i'll just go w/a flowmaster 40 series, and dual like 4" oval angle cut rolled edge tips w/ the same split exits again.......

Is the gain of 5-10hp what you think or is that from being tested? Thanks!

It feels like I have just a little more power after installing the Borla cat-back the 5-10 hp is just a guess.

Hey HuiDaddy I don't think that your friend broke any laws, because the muffler only tunes your exhaust it doesn't really catch any of the emissions that come from the engine, thats what the cats are for.

I'm running the MagnaFlow 15421 muffler with a single 3" tailpipe. Made a good difference, and the MagnaFlow is a straight thru like the UltraFLow.
I've also got the 5.0L V8.

Hey Hui, you never said if the Explorer with the straight pipe was a V6 or an 8. I would really like to know because I am trying to figure out what to do to my exhaust. Let me know ok, thanks
Jason

Exhaust modifications are so common today that no one thinks twice about them. I personally have done several and don't plan to quit, but if anyone is interested in what the government has to say about them check out this article. http://www.off-road.com/dodge/tech/Emissions_Legal.htm

my friend with the straight pipe had only a pre-1994 4wd v-6. his car sounded like he had a friggin 1970'ish ferrari. i know this cause i JUST saw a 1970'ish ferrari, and it sounded the same... blub blub blub... <---- might sound funny sayin/readin that, but man, his car sounds killer!!!
