Hey folks. I tried to search this up, but couldn't find anything specific to these years. If it's the same as another year range/model, please just point me in that direction.
That said, thinking of doing both exhaust manifolds, as I think RH is leaking, and LH has been leaked on by the valve cover for no idea how low. (Leaky LH vc is fixed now hopefully).

How big of a job is this? Would love tips on where to access each stud and nut from, if someone hasn't done a how to.

Do studs and nuts usually seize at this age and 215k, rust belt?

I have read motor mount replacement is recommended when replacing manifolds. I have also read that it is a big job for this vehicle, and not to do it unless studs are broken or the rubber is disintegrating. Again, I had trouble finding vehicle specifics for this, especially as I have torsion bar suspension, and most complaints regarded the bolt being behind the coil spring. Any thoughts on this?

Any other tips you might have for doing this job are greatly welcome as well.

Thanks
Mike

Remove the exhaust pipe flange nuts from the exhaust manifold studs.
Remove the drivers side exhaust manifold.
Support the engine with an engine lift.
Remove the bolts which secure the fan shroud......leave fan shroud on the fan.
Remove the drivers side engine mount bracket from the engine block.
Remove the passenger side engine mount bracket from the engine block.
Swing the engine towards the drivers side to gain access to the passenger side exhaust manifolds.

Some studs will probably break. Some studs may remain in place. Some studs may screw out with the nut.

You might have to unbolt the wire harness from the firewall to swing the engine far enough to the drivers side.

The metal EGR tube will be difficult to remove from the manifold.......what I do is I unbolt the EGR tube at the EGR valve flange and remove the tube with manifold as a single unit.

Thanks Tony. I was thinking I had to remove some front suspension to get to the engine mounts. I am crossing fingers for the studs, but some will probably give me trouble. This seems pretty straightforward.
