Does anyone have Borla exhaust on there 91-94 explorer is the muffler a 2.25 in and out and is that the stock inlet for the explorer without loosing back pressure because I want to get a system but don't want to lose back pressure. What is a safe size to get. How does the borla system sound:yelexp:

Hey Fred

I have got the borla header with no cats, gibson muffler sounds pretty sweet.I wish it was a flowmaster though.

on which vehicle

what size do you have for the inlet and you dont lose back pressure do you and did you notice some more power:cool:

I bought it that way its on my 92 lifted xlt lifted I think its two and half it feels like it loses top end,I dont notice no back pressure loss

Not Borla but I just purchased a flowmaster from truckperformance.com for my 2 door sport. I will get a digital video of the sound before and after I put on the exhaust. They said I should have it by next Wednesday. KKM comes in Monday or Tuesday.

Fred,
Keep you exhust at 2 1/4 and you'll do just fine.

thanks for the info on the exhaust that I should stick with:D

Good luck Fred

:)

thanks brad

Yeah, when it is time to go with an exhaust system I am going with Borla. I heard flowmaster mufflers rust real quick and Borla has a lifetime warrenty and I know you pay more but I don't want to have to keep replacing my muffler because it rusted thru. I still have my factory muffler on and it only has a very little rust on it and heck I live in Wisconsin where it snows all the time and even in months like April and May. Heck a few years back it snowed on my birthday April 7th and it didn't stop until april 9th. Heck, It was deep and I threw it in 4x4 and cruzed thru the snow like nothing and went thru some construction which had some deep mud and went thru that kinda of illegally but that is ok because I was not going to detour 3 blocks to get to the bar so, I went thru the no-thru street in 4x4 and made it just fine with no problems it wasnt super deep with a lot of ruts just a little deep maybe up to the middle of my rims or so. But, That night I was trashed and had a good time. My now wife, drove my drunk but home in 4x4 in my truck and we had no problem going home in even deeper snow than when we first came to the bar.:D

Borla vs Gibson

I had the Borla system on my X a year ago, and thought it made too much noise inside the cab. I have a '67 stang with headers -> straight pipes, and that is freakin loud; but the sound fits for the stang. The Borla system sounded good outside, but it didn't really sound the way I wanted my explorer to sound. Plus there was a lot of high-pitch noise inside the cab. I switched over to the Gibson cat-back, the power feels almost identical, there is almost no cab noise, just a deep rumble under heavy accel, and from the outside it sounds great.

Heh, how funny is this, I've been reading the articles and product reviews (and drooling over Rick's truck) on 4x4central.com for a couple of years now and never noticed the forum. Here is my first post!
