Okay I understand what DVC is, well actually explain it too me totally. What are the advantages of it? Is it like having 2 subs in one? Is it worth the extra cash and potential impedence troubles? Thanks.

The only major benefit is so that it allows you to choose amongst different sub setups in regard to your amp, for ohm loads and stuff. If you're referring to performance differences, it's minimal. It's really only to help you out with getting the number of subs you want at a desired ohm load for the amp. That's all they're really for, I think.

Once, I blew a voice coil... and it still worked afterwards on one...

Okay so basically since I wanna go with a single 12" set up DVC wouldn't make that big of a difference. I may get a DVC sub anyways so that just incase I decide to add more later I'll have more options. Thanks.

Mr Steve...You would want a DVC depending on how you want to set up your amp....With one DVC it will allow either and 8 or 2 ohm load on the amp. I run 2 Eclipse DVC's in my truck and they're running in 2 ohms and my amp then is in a stereo 2 ohm load. I could also set them to 8 ohm and run them parallel....I think that is right, I can't get those terms all correct, but I can wire it correctly. So you need to decide how to run the amp then decide on the sub you want.
