explorer 5.0 misses under slight to medium accel

I have a 2001 explorer with a 5.0 engine that misses under slight to medium acceleration. at idle and steady speeds it runs very smooth as well as under fairly heavy acceleration. the engine runs good with no strange noise and no oil consumption. it is a high mileage engine. I just changed the fuel filter which had been on the vehicle for the last 80k if 218k miles. with no corrosion, body and interior are still in great condition I do not want to get rid of the vehicle. I like the AWD since I fish and hunt frequently. I am afraid to take it to any distant fishing holes until this can be solved. Any help would be appreciated.

I would suspect a spark plug or plug wire. when's the last time they were replaced?

Yes. Try new spark plugs, make sure you use motorcraft ( autolite) platinum plugs

Check/test the Coil packs and their connections. Check your fuel pressure too.

thanks folks, I believe cleaning the vortex fuel/air supply, new fuel filter and new plugs the problem has been solved. Life is great! any luck fish for supper!
