I have a friend that just purchased a 1999 Ford Explorer 5.0 V8 with the intensions of removing the motor and installing it in his Wrangler. If he unhooks the automatic transmission from the 5.0 will the computer still let the engine run normal or will it put it in a "limp home" mode? He plans on mating the 5.0 with a 5-speed. Thanks.

He'll have to get the computer re-tuned.

I love it. Another HEEP that needs some FORD in it to make it go:D

Not only that but i can imagine a ton of reinforceing the whole front end is in order. Those Wranglers weren't designed for a V8 to be put in i imagine.

Not needed. I have a friend with a YJ running a 500 horse 454... nothing other than beefy motormounts.

As said, either the stock computer needs a flash or he can swap to the old mustang 5 speed computer and run a distributor.
