Does anyone have this package on their Explorer? It seems like a nice thing to have for better in-city driving on my daily driver. With a lack of good sites to take my truck offroad in urban Orlando (I dont think Mickey Mouse would appreciate me offroading in the middle of one of his parks), it leaves me to have my Explorer more on the "street" side. (no big loss, i couldnt decide where to go with it anyway, street or dirt)

This suspension looks really nice to me, and I think id like it. But testimonials from the manufacturers website and a dedicated forum like this are totally different. any opintions are appreciated :D

i have this set up and it is awesome!!!! and to compliment it i have 17x9 cobra r's on pirelli scorpion zeros, it handles so much better, there is such a night and day difference, its a little over priced but worth every penny because everything fits perfectly, u wont be sad that you did this

It says on the description that it moderately lowers. How much is moderately lowers? And the sway bar makes it handle better, how much does it affect ride quality?

I read about this kit at length when I first came on the site. After reading all the pros/cons about the setup, I decided to just go with the sway bar upgrade. Sounds like the ride becomes a bit harsh after the full kit is installed and you'll also be limited in your shock choices down the road.

The sway bar upgrade is well worth it. On your Ex you'd need front and rear bars upgraded (Ford went to a beefier front bar in '98). Try that upgrade first and see if you need the rest.

EDIT: I agree with Spindlecone. Get new shocks too. I went with Monroe Reflex myself. Cheaper than some of the more chi chi shocks out there, but very good shocks. Sensatracs are another good option from Monroe.

1 1/4 inch, not much, I think the entire kit is overpriced JMO, go with the EE bar for sure and some good shocks, handling will be far better

haha yeah it is over priced i agree, it was 1 3/8th out back and about 2 up front because i just straight up took out my torison bolts so... i cant say what the shocks and sway bar would do on their own but together it rocked, also for more handling wider wheels and tires help alot as well, word of advice if you do end up lowering, dont go with the autozone blocks, the new ubolts dont fit over the axle very well and the blocks dont line up very well either so...

Thats the one great thing about the EE rear drop kit, if all you need is 1 3/8 every thing fits, as said the AZ kits are crap, plus the blocks are cast alom. and they crack.
To get 3 inchs drop in the back I used the EE 1 3/8 machined blocks and milled solid alum blocks to ad to them.
The u-bolts I had custom made at a shop that builds leaf springs, 8 bux ea.
If I were to do it again I would just use 3 in. solid steel blocks, all you need to do is drill the centering holes

EE kit is way overpriced. Get some blocks, tt up front, shocks and sway bar for half of that crap. It seems like everyone who bought the EE suspension kit gets rather offended when you say it's overpriced. I just think it's because they spent too much and feel they need to defend their spending habits

haha i got it and it is way overpriced so there! hehe but i had felt it on a mounty and it was awesome!!! and everything compliments everything else and it all works installing the first, no real fiddling around with things, it just all flits plush together, beauj, have you tried installing the AZ blocks on the explorer then the EE blocks....?

So True, get the rear bar, or a Hellwig bar (most don't need the front bar). a good set of shocks, TT and solid blocks, camber kits, alignment, done

haha, no AZ blocks for me. I'd use pieces of a cinderblock before I trust those.

hahaha well said beau!!!! but im going to have disagree on the owners comments and trying to justify the price on there.... we all do know its over priced i said it in my first post lol... but i dont think they will get their pants in a bunch over it, they r just really happy with the quailty and engineering that went into it... but go with the rear sway bar, tt and good blocks def not az, and i like the shocks, but ive heard time and time again that they crap out after 2 years and that edelbrock wont keep their word on their warranty, ive had mine for about a year now and they r still holding up very well however, but right after you install the parts if you lower, make sure to get that alignment, you will be shaken to death 40mph and above
