could be a fuel problem. A fuel problem would not throw a code unless its actually causing a missfire.

either that or try cleaning your mass air flow sensor

well if ur fuel filter was nasty it could be your injectors are clogged just not letting enough through, or possibly even your fuel pump getting clogged and not running at full capacity. Get your fuel pressure tested at the lines. If it tests and enough pressure, try getting a full fuel system cleaning where they put ur injectors into a cleaning solution. If all that doesnt work then im almost at a loss. Does it idle rough?

I accendently unplugged an injector yesterday. Didn't throw any lights, sounded a bit weird, idled weird, and had no power, very hard to get to go. But it DID go on only 5 cyl, I didnt' try the highway, but getting up to 45 was a bit of a chore, if comparted to how it was before.

So maybe you are missing?

eh its got a little miss at idle that i cant get rid of but nothing crazy and to abnormal. ill drop the tank and clean it and replace fuel pump this weekend and go from there... i guess when i re install ill put some Techron fuel system cleaner just to see what that does for me but i doubt nothing.... my truck has had mud up to the windows a ton of times but its always been cleaned up afterwards.. so i figure the tank must be dirty inside

definitely get ur fuel pressure checked at the lines before going through with the fuel pump swap that way u can make sure thats the problem. If the pressure is ok then try the injectors. If its way low then go with the pump and cleaning out ur pan and such.

do u have an MSN or Yahoo messenger? If so i can talk to you about it on there.

I was having the same power issues on a '91 I just bought. I gutted the cats and that made a huge differance, maybe your muffler has gotten clogged since you said the cats have already been gutted. Your fuel pressure regulator can also give you problems so I would definitly check your fuel pressure. Your fuel pressure regulator is vacuum controled so any vacuum leaks can cause problems.

but vacuum leaks would most likely throw a code.

i had the same type of thing with my ex it seemed like it was luggin down horribly. i changed the air filter and it runs a lot better. also try running a little higher octane fuel and some injector cleaner through the system

Did this happen suddenly or has it been over years? It might just be that your Accelerator cable stretched and now the throttle body doesn't open as it should and your transmission doesn't kick down when it should.

its been doing it since i bought it.. just feels really weak and when i smash the gas it will slowly accelerate but when it gets to 5k rpms it sometimes doesnt even have enough power to get it to change gears. it will bounce off the revlimiter at 5k until i let out of the gas.. i know its not the tranny because its new and the bands and everything was just serviced...

Look at the accel cable.

With teh Engine off....
Basically take the Air snorkel off the Throttle body, Have someone Floor the Gas pedal. Look at the Butterly in the Throttle body. If it's not Horizontal, then you need to tighten it up a bit.

To do this, Take a small Tie Wrap and put it around the Cable at the gas pedal. It is the cable that is closest to the steering column. Put one tie wrap on and see it that does it. It doesn't take much.

i did this today to my accel cable and my down shift cable.. it perked up the take off alot but now shifts a lil weird. i only put two zip ties on each.. and it still just doesnt shift right at 5000 rpms.. i have to let off to get it to shift. starting at like 4700+ rpms it just looses an extreme amount of power and bogs down like crazy and wont push its self further to shift...

You might want to check the cats to see if they have really been gutted, maybe run it without the muffler to make sure you have no restrictions. I know I had the same problem and gutting the cats made a big differance, it will down shift and go even with 31" tires.

yeah im about to buy a muffler and do awa with cats period and run a stright pipe to the muffler as soon as i find a good priced decent one...

I think ur pushing it too hard to be revving at 5000 rpms in a 4.0 auto. It prolly just doesn't want to shift because its revving wayyyy tooooo faaaaassssttt.
