My 94 Explorer is great, except for 1 problem. I can be driving & it will just shut off. All electric is still on but it seems to lose gas. I have to pull over & it starts back up right away. Sometimes it can take an hour before it starts again but rarely. Any help would be appreciated.

its sounds as if you may be getting vaporlock in the fuel system....the incoming fuel may be too hot or cold...
moreso that the fuel evaporates to quiclky as it is boiling and the engine cant get any...then when its off it cools down a bit and starts fine later. do you live in a hot climate?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Nice truck you got there.

Hot climate

I live in North Alabam, but it gets pretty cold in the winter & it has yet to reach 90 this summer.

You might want to check the pressure your pump is putting out. Vaporlock is a definite possiblity, but fuel pump problems are also know in the older X's. If it's vaporlock, you can use some tape insulation to wrap the fuel lines to try to keep the heat away from them.

Thanks

Hey man, Thanks for the info. Now I at least can act like I know what I am talking about when I take it in for repair. Nice truck too!
